If you see a red light, this means that the shredder is being overfed, and it will stop automatically, before a paper jam has a chance to occur. All you have to do then is to remove some of the paper and resume the shredding job. Also if you should ever accidentally misfeed the shredder (such as putting the paper in at an off-angle), the jam proof system will power right through it.
